Women's Health - Meet the team
The Women’s Health service across the Wakefield District is being developed by GPs and health care experts working across the area.
It’s members are the champions of women’s health across the district. The main focus of the group is to:
- Promote and engage with PCNs / GP Practices on women’s health
- be a point of contact for specialist knowledge.
- improve any specific issues in each PCN a
- understand bespoke training needs of individual PCN’s.
- Meet as a clinical network trialing a multidisciplinary team approach for complex cases.
- Oversee resources, education and training to the district based on identified needs to upskill clinicians.
- Share best practice and the latest clinical guidance.
- Collaborate with GP Care Wakefield to develop clinical pathways.
- Develop district wide education / guidance e.g. HRT guidance
- Link with secondary care colleagues to improve services and partnership working.
Dr Saima Virk
Graduated in 2004 and trained as General Practitioner in 2014.
GP Partner at Park Green Surgery and Practice lead for Women health , Safeguarding and Caldicott Guardian.

Dr Debbie Hallott – BRIGANTES
Debbie graduated as a Doctor in 1989 and as a GP in 1994 and having an interest in women’s health ever since. She currently works as a GP Partner at New Southgate Surgery.

Dr Hannah Browne – TRINITY
- Previously an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Speciality Trainee and worked at Registrar level. Obtained MRCOG Part 1
- Have my DRCOG and DFSRH diplomas.
- Fitter of coils and implants
- Faculty trainer for DFSRH and insertion/ removal of coils and implants
- Currently undergoing Advanced Menopause Care diploma
- GP Trainer and Partner
- Comfortable fitting pessaries and performing pipelle biopsies
Dr Laura Darby – WEST WAKEFIELD
- GP Partner at Middlestown Medical Centre (MRCGP)
- GP Trainer (PCHFE)
- Special interest in Women’s Health-in particular Menopause Care.
- Coil and Implant fitter.
Emma Still – FIVE TOWNS
I am women’s health lead for Kings Medical practice.
- Have the DSFRH qualification.
- I am an implant and coil fitter
- I am a trainer for implants and coil fitters
- I have an interest in menopause care and am running group menopause clinics starting October 2024
