Book appointments at evenings and weekends
Same day and routine evening/weekend appointments are provided by Conexus on behalf of all practices in the Wakefield District. The service is known locally as GP Care Wakefield.
Practice telephone systems are automatically diverted to the service when the practice is closed. Please encourage your patients to call your practice telephone number for help during these times.
Patient call-backs for urgent same day needs during the week can also be booked by practice teams from 1pm onwards (maybe later depending on your PCN.) Simply book into the next available slot, using the process within the GP Care Wakefield practice manual.
Routine appointments can be booked by practice teams up to 2 weeks in advance via remote booking. Again, please refer to the GP Care practice manual for further guidance on how to do this.
We ask that you provide a brief description of the patients’ needs when booking them into GP Care, to make sure we can meet their needs appropriately. Occasionally one of our friendly team may contact you to check out anything that is not clear or where something is best dealt with by the practice.
Using the evening and weekend clinic is a faster way for patients to get help and speak to a GP when suddenly unwell at evenings and weekends. In most cases they might not even need to leave home. Most problems can be dealt with over the phone and recorded straight in to the patient’s record, with any urgent tasks flagged for you."
