Modern General Practice Access

Modern General Practice Access (MGPA) is changing the way primary care meets growing demand. In Wakefield, Ossett Surgery and King’s Medical Practice are leading the way, showing what real improvement looks like. Faced with the familiar 8am rush, long waits and frustrated patients, both practices have rethought how people access care focusing on need rather than timing, strengthening care navigation and improving the experience for patients and staff alike. Their work shows how redesigned systems, better use of digital tools and confident, empowered teams can create faster, fairer and more consistent access for local communities.

The case study below highlights the different journeys taken by each practice.  This is also available to download as a pdf.
