National Apprenticeship Week
At Conexus, apprenticeships are a key part of how we develop and strengthen our workforce at every level. While apprenticeships are sometimes thought of as being mainly for school or college leavers, the reality is very different. Today, apprenticeships span a wide range of professional levels including advanced and postgraduate study. Guidance also makes it clear that apprenticeships can benefit people at any stage of their career, whether they’re new to a role, seeking additional qualifications, or looking to progress into more specialist positions.
This National Apprenticeship Week, we want to celebrate the colleagues across Conexus who are currently undertaking apprenticeship programmes as part of their continued professional development.
Over the past five years, 32 colleagues have completed apprenticeships across a variety of levels. The pie chart below shows the subjects studied and the proportion of staff involved in each area.

These programmes are structured, accredited, and designed to fit around an individual’s existing role. This means colleagues can continue contributing to their services while gaining new skills and qualifications.
For Conexus, apprenticeships are a practical way to nurture talent from within, support career progression, and ensure that the skills across our organisation and Primary Care Networks evolve to meet the needs of our patients and communities.
So, during National Apprenticeship Week, we’re highlighting a key message:
Apprenticeships aren’t just a starting point, they’re a valuable development pathway for people at many different stages of their career.
If your organisation would like advice on supporting staff through apprenticeships, or if you’d like to learn more about how apprenticeships have benefited Conexus and the wider health and care community, please get in touch.
